The Seattle Seafair Pirates Official Web Site - Pirate Kings of the Northwest since 1949 It's a high-humored heist by the Seattle SEAFAIR Pirates. The salty troupe's shenanigans and formidable float, the Duck, have become synonymous with SEAFAIR revelry. The Pirates, originally members of the Washington State Press Club's Ale & Quail Society, banded together in 1949 to promote Seattle and Seafair while having fun and serving the community. Despite their bad-guy image, the Pirates make dozens of appearances annually to hospitals and nursing homes. During the height of Seattle's SEAFAIR Celebration, they appear at several events and parades each day. The 40+ Pirates are an elite troupe who carefully selects their members based on their ability to mix well with the public and for their unique musical or theatrical talents.

Hi, guys! Wow! What a cool show you put on at the parade up in Astoria. Especially the guy with the blue striped pants and black vest. The one you knocked down with a cannon ball. Is he OK? That was sooooo cool! He must be in great shape. Is he married? How can I get to meet him? Do you guys ever go to the Wet Dog or Ira's? You guys were great!!

My husband and I will be in the Cayman Islands for Pirates Week and were surprised to read that the Seattle Seafair Pirates would be leading the invasion. I work for Boeing at the Space Center and have traveled to Seattle frequently in the past 18 years. Are there any Boeing employees who are pirates?

From: Bethson Sent: Tuesday, August 07, 2001 6:09 PM To: jim@seafairpirates.org Subject: hey it is me Elizabeth From Childrens hospital's Dialysis Unit

Hey sorry it took so long to e mail you. I have been quite busy. The dialysis is going great. I am not getting sick during my runs and afterwards I feel great. I am still waiting in that kidney. I could be any day now. I saw you a the Torchlight but your back was turned the opposite way so you did not see me. I also saw the Princess of the Hi Yu festival that was in West Seattle she saw me too and waved. Well, I said that I would keep you posted, and I mean that. I want to thank you for coming and visiting me in the unit. My Mom said that she had never seen me smile so much while I dialyzed. I told her that it was the pirates that did that. So thank you very much.

PS the bear is very cuddly to sleep with

I have seen the pirates for many years in Seattle and now I am on the school board in Bellevue and involved with Youth Link. We have a big community event for kids every year (2002 will be our 4th year) and I was hoping that the pirates would come out for a visit. The date are June 22 and June 23, 2002 from noon to noon. Please email me back. I love you guys. I also had an opportunity to be involved with the Childrens ride for Childrens hospital and it was great to see you guys there at the kickoff. Thanks for being involved in your community.

Saw the Pirates at the Hyack Festival in New Westminster, and took particular notice since we too are Pirates! We are the Highline High School Pirate Band from Burien, Washington, and proud to be Pirates. FYI, the HHS Pirate Band won a Hyack Festival Parade award for "Best American High School Band". I'm looking forward to seeing the whole motley crew in the Torchlight Parade Saturday. Thank you, Pirates, for a wonderful Seafair tradition!
