The Seattle Seafair Pirates Official Web Site - Pirate Kings of the Northwest since 1949 It's a high-humored heist by the Seattle SEAFAIR Pirates. The salty troupe's shenanigans and formidable float, the Duck, have become synonymous with SEAFAIR revelry. The Pirates, originally members of the Washington State Press Club's Ale & Quail Society, banded together in 1949 to promote Seattle and Seafair while having fun and serving the community. Despite their bad-guy image, the Pirates make dozens of appearances annually to hospitals and nursing homes. During the height of Seattle's SEAFAIR Celebration, they appear at several events and parades each day. The 40+ Pirates are an elite troupe who carefully selects their members based on their ability to mix well with the public and for their unique musical or theatrical talents.

FYI, Yes Grace Hungerford was my Grandmother, But we could only call her Mother Grace, she really disliked "Grama". Would love to share stories form the Hungerford. I love the Seafair Pirates. AS a child they scared me but now I think that they are cool. One of my favorite memories of the Pirates is when they came to All City Marching Band's practice where our theme was Pirate night and the Pirates were a huge part of our practice. WE even got our picture taken on the Moby Duck with the Pirates. You cannot ask for a better group of people then the Pirates. And by the way thanks for the practice. It was one of the more fun ones that we had in my 10 years with All City Marching Band

March 12, 2005: 17 years in Seattle and I never met the "Pirates!" How does that happen? Last night we met you (Pete, Michael, Jerry, Kevin, Lance, etc)at the Owl and Thistle where we enjoyed your ornate costumes, jocular songs--your delightful company. Thank you for the buttons, coins, and magazines, thank you for picking up the tab, and a very big thanks for all of the charity work you provide to not only our community, but throughout the globe in bringing happiness to so many children (and adults). Please take no offense when I say that for pirates, you were all such gentlemen--such sweet, sweet souls. I hope to see you all again before I depart for the Big Island this summer, and remember, I will be inquiring about the Dolphin Days Festival at the Waikaloa Hilton Resort for you. I appreciated the time the pirates took out of their busy schedule to come to our facility, which is a youth correctional facility and visit with the residents. Many of our residents had never seen the pirates and it was the talk around campus for a long time. I hope we can make arrangements with them to come for another visit because I feel they were positive roll models and brought smiles to many young faces.

Almost 42 years ago, when I was 7 years old, I was "kidnapped" by the Seafair Pirates, during the Seafair Parade. I rode on the Moby Duck quite a down the streets of Seattle. The gentleman who "kidnapped" me was very nice and asked me if I was scared yet and wanted to go back. When I finally said yes, he ran me all the way back to my family. I have never forgotten it. The reason I'm writing you now, is because, after the murder/suicide death of my sister and brother in law, I am now raising my sister's two kids. My nephew, Lathan will be celebrating his 9th birthday and we are going to have a Pirate Party. I was wondering if you hire out for birthday parties or if you only do parades and charity events?
